Yeah, I tried it last year and it worked okay for me, but then I upgraded all my PC's and my XBox 360, the Elite and the Vista both had Media Center so it just made sense to use that.

I find that the media center organizes the files very well, but I still use the hard drive all the time for my music because I have over 300 GB of it and I have all my playlists stored on it!

Yes, I did enjoy, good article.

I was just curious of any better performance or other features.

I do stream with standard windows XP though, not the media center edition. You can do this by installing/upgrading to Windows Media Player 11.

I know a lot of people that take their personal files everywhere they go. I never said that this Hard Drive option was better than anything else, like streaming via Windows Media Player or using your XBox 360 as a Media Center Extender.
I just presented another option for the masses. I personally prefer using the 360 as a Media Player Extender, but you have to have a 360 with the Extender support, such as the Console (Premium)or Elite set-up. Then, you must have have Media Center running on your PC in order for the 2 systems to communicate. Streaming to the 360 via Media Player is great also, and that is how I used to run my system.
Nowadays, I have digital interfaces in my car, my truck, and naturally in my laptop, so whenever I go somewhere I just unplug the hard drive from the 360 and take it with me, when I get into one of my vehicles, there is my entertainment, when I go out of town, there is my entertainment.
I hope you enjoyed the article!

This is an insane set up, seems so complicated yet you make it simply.
I may just have to give it a shot.
Nice job!
