Gentlemen, it is yet that time again - Man your Battlestations!
The sequel to Battlestations: Midway is in development and looks to be ship-shaping up nicely.
If you love accuracy like I do, you’ll love:
According to Mr. Szalacsi, they have at least three game designers on the team who are ex-history teachers, and the campaign for the Japanese is based on their actual plans for the war found in historical documents. You never know when that paper trail will come back and bite you.
Now new and improved with troops too!
In the original Battlestations, you controlled surface ships, submarines and aircraft, all at the same time. Sometimes you encountered enemy ground troops, usually holed up in an island fortress or gun emplacement, and shelled them from afar. Now, you’ll have some of your own troops to command, though whether you’re doing that on an individual, squad or platoon level remains unclear at this point.
But wait, there’s more!
There are twenty-eight new missions spread across the two campaigns, American and Japanese, plus five new multiplayer modes with scalable maps so you can customize your multiplayer game for the number of people and units you want to control in it.
Call now and for $19.9…. heh.
Man if they pull this off it will be epic. As long as the time in the development oven is much, much less than the last..
Battlestations: Pacific Exclusive Preview
Thanks to USMC Beans for the heads up. Semper Fi!
Came across this video of Will Arnett and his obsession with Call of Duty 4. At first you have to wonder is this is Arnett, our co-journalist? Well you will just have to jump online, find us, and find out. Hope to see you in the trenches.

Well this really dosen’t share to much more that we already didn’t know, yet it is always is good to hear more inforamtion.

Well, judging by the vast number of articles on the subject out there, and the need to keep competing with Sony’s Playstation 3, it is a No-Brainer that the 360 needs to provide support for the Blu-Ray format, and they need to do it fast. There have been “rumors” circulating from “insiders” at Microsoft that a stand alone plug-in similar to their HD-DVD player has already been designed and is in the process of getting through Microsoft Certification. These rumors all point toward something coming to the shelves in May 2008. We can only hope that they stay on point and push something to the retail sector very fast.
Arnett Out!
Well it is official; Microsoft has discontinued the HD-DVD Player ad on. As you may have heard all six major studios are have now moved to Blu-ray format exclusively. Along with Netflix, Best Buy and WalMart. So watch for the prices to drop and you might be able to pick up the connection for a steal. But will you have the movies to watch them on the addition, probably not.
Official statement after the jump.
As a result of recent decisions made by Toshiba, Hollywood studios, and retailers, Microsoft plans to withdraw from HD DVD. Xbox will no longer manufacture new HD DVD players for the Xbox 360, but we will continue to provide standard product and warranty support for all Xbox 360 HD DVD Players in the market. As we stated earlier, we do not believe this decision will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace. HD DVD is one of the several ways we offer a high definition experience to consumers and we will continue to give consumers the choice to enjoy digital distribution of high definition movies and TV shows directly to their living room, along with playback of the DVD movies they already own.

COD4 3 New Maps
This spring you will be able to down load a map-pack of 3 new maps. I was hopping for more, but 3 maps are better then nothing. Also Infinity Ward goal of these maps will be and are to be something totally different then what we have been playing now! When I know you will now.
What IW has been working on is the Map updates and the general updates patch that Arnnet talked about in an earlier article (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)
As for an exact release date of the maps and patches all Robert Bowling of IW had to say was “Right now we have 3 maps for release. We are aiming for spring; we do not have an ETA. We are working on something good to go and then we will worry of the exact date.” So needless to say we are all anxious for the Map Pack. Just get them done!

COD4 Interview
In my continual efforts to find information for upcoming games and download updates for current games. I came across a great interview with Infinity Ward Community Manager Robert Bowling to talk about what went in to developing COD 4.
In this interview they cover many different aspects of the games that I didn’t even think of. Plus he answers questions of others questions that we have all had (exp: how many maps are going to be downloadable, he never really stats the number of maps that will be on the DLC), you will like what he has to say, take a look.
