Xbox 360 Warranty Extended to 3 Years For Red Ring Failures

360 new warranty 3 years
Microsoft has extended the warranty on all Xbox 360 consoles.

The new warranty covers new and previously purchased Xbox 360s for three years, for the three flashing red light error only.

So, if you get a red ring of death (a.k.a. RROD, three red lights, circle of doom, etc.) hardware error, you're covered. If you have a DVD Drive fail, GPU overheat, or other problem the extended warranty does NOT cover it. The one year warranty would apply.

However, the RROD has been a large percentage of failures, so this is better than nothing. (I have had 4 console failures with only one of them being a Red Ring issue.)

So, if you have a Red Ring error failure, don't try to fix it, don't open the box. Send it back for free repair.

And finally an open letter from Microsoft's Peter Moore.

btw off subject sorry , when i got rrod i done the following steps will save alot of time .

    1. put a towel over your xbox360, make sure to cover all vents.
    2. turn on your xbox360 and leave it running for 10 minutes.
3.after the ten minutes remove the towel and turn off your console.
    4. leave it for 30 minutes , and then its all good.

yeah i bought the 360 elite edition so i thought the 500 dollar console wouldnt have any problems and the three rings i heard about so much wouldnt happen to me. guess what i was wrong! 6 months after owning it i got the three rings. bummer in the middle of rock band with all my friends it happens. im pissed! what if i dont have a reciept for my xbox will the microsoft still fix my system without screwing it up. ive got too much downloaded content and too many hours put into it to have it all wiped out in a matter of seconds just cuz a tech at microsoft gets a sweet laugh out of it. bastards!

    Hi

My XBOX 360 Elite was working for about 8 months, and then it crapped out with the RROD. I sent it in to be repaired, but I was wondering if anybody has had the problem after MS supposedly fixed it?
