Xbox 360 Warranty Extended to 3 Years For Red Ring Failures

Microsoft has extended the warranty on all Xbox 360 consoles.
The new warranty covers new and previously purchased Xbox 360s for three years, for the three flashing red light error only.
So, if you get a red ring of death (a.k.a. RROD, three red lights, circle of doom, etc.) hardware error, you’re covered. If you have a DVD Drive fail, GPU overheat, or other problem the extended warranty does NOT cover it. The one year warranty would apply.
However, the RROD has been a large percentage of failures, so this is better than nothing. (I have had 4 console failures with only one of them being a Red Ring issue.)
So, if you have a Red Ring error failure, don’t try to fix it, don’t open the box. Send it back for free repair.

Here is the new warranty FAQ : Xbox 360 New Warranty FAQ
And finally an open letter from Microsoft’s Peter Moore.

WOW Just recently had the three red lights come up on mine and thought i might check the net to see if this had happened before. I find that im far from being Robinson Crusoe here. This is incredible. How could this problem have gone on for so long. I wonder how many 360 s bill gates fried before buying a PS3

3 red lights happend sunday night (16/12/07). rang up xbox customer suport monday dinner time(17/12/07) they asked a few details then emailed me the UPS label which i needed to print off.
went to post office to get a box and bubble rap, got home and packed it then attached label to box. rang up UPS on tuesday (18/12/07) then they came to pick up my xbox on wednesday evening(19/12/07). checked tracking today and my xbox has arrived at the XBOX REPAIR CENTRE this morning.
pritty fast process if you ask me, but just have to wait 2-3 weeks to get it back (may be longer due to christmas period) but worth the wait, saves forking out another £200+ to buy a new one!!!

i got my grandson his xbox360 for christmas last year, it got the 3 red lights on his birthday in november just gone i sent it back to xbox repair 3 weeks later i got it back on the friday,on the saturday morning it had 3 red lights again i contacted xbox support and they said they would email me the retunrs labels within 48 hours, a week later after 4 calls to them they forgot to send it and they sent it the following day with a promise they would have it back before christmas as it was their fault they delayed it a week they said they would give me a game as it was their fault, it is now the friday before christmas my grandson has all xbox games for christmas but no console and they dont give a dam, i am seeking leagal advise because they have lied to me constantly regarding this and to add insult to injury they sent my grandson the game but what is he to play it on when i told them i have taped the conversations with them they told me if i did not stop taping the calls they would put the phone down on me,well if they did not lie to people we would not have to take these sort of actions, xbox need a kick up the backside nor people need to seek legal advise to stop these people doing this to the people who have xbox360, well xbox up yours i will not let this go with you people.

I had the infamous circle of death and thought I was done. I first tried unplugging only the power cord and reinserting it; nothing. Then I read some posts here and unplugged everything (cables, HD, memory card). I then plugged each item back in one at a time, starting with the power cord. Each time I put a cable in I would start the console up, and after seeing it worked, I turned it off and plugged in the next item.
