Xbox 360 Warranty Extended to 3 Years For Red Ring Failures
Microsoft has extended the warranty on all Xbox 360 consoles.
The new warranty covers new and previously purchased Xbox 360s for three years, for the three flashing red light error only.
So, if you get a red ring of death (a.k.a. RROD, three red lights, circle of doom, etc.) hardware error, you're covered. If you have a DVD Drive fail, GPU overheat, or other problem the extended warranty does NOT cover it. The one year warranty would apply.
However, the RROD has been a large percentage of failures, so this is better than nothing. (I have had 4 console failures with only one of them being a Red Ring issue.)
So, if you have a Red Ring error failure, don't try to fix it, don't open the box. Send it back for free repair.

I bought my husband a 360, and purchased the 2year ext waranty for it. a month after the waranty is up it has the 3 Red Light problem. Husband can play, but has no idea about how to fix it. I hear there is a ‘Microsoft’waranty for this problem? Please tell me if this applies to me and how/where to contact who to have it fixed?????????

Hi, bought my 2 xbox 360 about 18 months ago after the first one I had the 3 red lights and my year warranty was up. 10 months after that I got it 3 red lights again scent it for repair and I got a new one back and now about 9 months later as I went to play it on the 31 march 09 3 red lights again. What can I do is it still under the extended warranty if so can I have the uk number for repairs.
My Box is about 18 month old. I had the E 74 error 2 times now have 3 rrd…
Piss me off I say! because I am not currently in the USA and there is no official MS support in China so I have to either try to get it fixed here or wait till I go home.
Most likely going to have to buy a new Box here…
Hey there, my son has just got the three red lights on his console. i switched it off thinking it was over heating. not come back yet. should i send it back to be fixed or should i follow the simple instructions on fixing myself. that i got on this page.

Yo i got 3 red lights a week ago so i rang up xbox in uk and they helped at then u can arrage a collection with UPS to pick it up for free and they send it to the microsoft office in germany and it gets repaired or fixed and then they send it back im gettin mine back in monday i was suprised how quick it said 2-3 weeks. Now i just hope it works when i get it back :)
Your xbox needs to be in warranty so if you ring them up tell them your serial number they will tell you
you will most probaly be in warranty for three red lights because it has an extra 3 year

Interesting, I had been informed that the extended warranty would also cover one red light errors such as the E74 error also. I’ll need to review the warranty again.
hey i have a 360 n i gt the 3 rings im nt sure wt to do, i have turned it off and on but no luck. what do u need to get this extention and wear should i call to ask for repairs… i dont have the recipt or the box any more because i never new this could happen WT SHOULD I DO!!!!!!!!!
