Repair Xbox 360 - 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run “Initial Setup” under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don’t want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

ive had this problem for the past two months, its so easy to fix but the fix wont last you’ll have to keep doin it, n so far ive been running it off my cheap fix for near 2 months. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OVERHEAT YOUR XBOX! WRAP IT IN A TOWEL SO THAT THERE ARE NO OPENINGS OR AVAILABLE VENTILATION, THAN LET IT SIT TIL IT OVERRHEATS FOR A WHILE. TURN IT OFF, GIVE IT A FEW MINUTES, TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WORKS! ITS WORKED FOR ME AND EVERYONE IVE TOLD IT ABOUT!

I dont know why the hell you guy’s are complaining. The 360 is way better than ps3. why would u trade it in. Even if the three lights flash. just whine to customer service im sure there gonna cut the price if u whine hard enough.

Really, go to www.xbox360-pros.com. I saved $50 and still have my unit. Not some hand me down refurb from Microsoft.

I got my xbox, and called in when this happened. The first person told me my warranty was up, and the second told me it wasn’t. In between the two calls I opened it up to look at it, and now I might be screwed.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW MICROSOFT CHECKS TO SEE IF THE 360 WAS OPENED? IF SO, HOW COULD I COVER MY TRAKCS UP?

This is very annoying,I’ve had the xbox 360 since May 2007 and suddenly i am playing crackdown and the 360 just freezes while the controller continues to vibrate like mad. I’ve had virtually every console since the PS1 and they all still work up to this day, including the Wii.
