Repair Xbox 360 - 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run “Initial Setup” under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don’t want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

I had my 360 for almost a year when i got the dead-red lights. why should i have to pay $130 to fix a mistake made by the ones who made this. you know, they probably wont make this problem better, because they must make a hell of a lot of money off these faulty boxes, why would they ever want to fix it?

My dad is a lawyer, he has heard of this problem but doesn’t know if there are enough people to draw up a lawsuit. If you guys are interested. Contact my father at Law Offices of Lewis And Associates. www.Lewisatlaw.com He would be willing to draw up a lawsuit if there are enough people most likely. Get a bunch of people with interest in getting this problem fixed.

I bought mine from Ebay a few months after it was originally released. It was still unavailable in sotres, so I paid close to $500 shipped for it from ebay.
I have put MANY hours on it, and play almost every night.
A few days ago, the screen just went black. I turned it off, and when I tried to power it back on, there was the dreaded 3 red lights.
This really sux. Calling support is a joke, they know what they have you run through isnt going to fix it……so why bother?
I am just gonna replace it.

Yea i was playing mlb 07 today when all of a sudden the piece of shit x-box 360 froze. I turned it off and on again and froze again.started playing the godfather , saved it went to play a game and the 3 rings of death came on . Microsoft should be held responsible and paying 150 for a repair is redicilous. There should be a recall
