Repair Xbox 360 – 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run "Initial Setup" under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don't want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

My xbox had 3 red lights so I phoned microsoft and asked if thry can repaor they said I needed to buy a new warinty which costed $139.99 so I said no and i looked up this other 3rd party repair service and they tryed and reapir but they coundn’t cuz it had t o much Heat Damage inside….. so i phone microsoft after and they said they cant reapir because the other company opened my xbox 360……Plus they Re-call of the xbox 360 Ended Jan. 1st 2007 .. .which is Stupied

my xbxo has been fine for 14 months… untill yeaterday, while watching a dvd. it froze. today i turned it on to see if it would work. then it wouldn’t work at all. just showed me three red lights. twas the sadest moment of my life.
my xbox started to give me 3 red lights today.So i rang customer services i was on hold for 5-10mins.I then was put through to a guy who asked my serial etc.Then i was told i will be sent a sticker within 5 working days(why not just collect it??)Then i must put xbox in empty box put sticker onto box thenring number for it tobe collected.Then i SHOULD get my xbox back within 15 working days.
buy a intercooler i also had the 3 light problem after 2 weeks traded it in for a new one and bought intercooler no broblems 4, 7 months i play alot

Guys, you really think that PS3 is perfect? That ps3 users dont have any laggs, and their consoles are working perfectly? I thought the same when i got my xbox360 and it got broken, i thought that PS3 is better, then i got it, and after a while, it is broken to, the same problem, it is just freezing, both these consoles got the same problems, because this is the same technology, it is not xbox360 and ps2, it is the same generation, so just get extended warranty for 2 years, it is around 70 $ and you are fully protected
LOL what a load of BS , mine has just broken 1 week outside the warrenty , considering its a common problem MS should fix it free …….. as far as im concerned I cant be bothered anymore , my 360 days are now over .
I had the same problems with three red flashing lights a month ago after using for year. One day we had cold snap month ago and it start working again. Then it came back again. I pay 50 dollars for two years warranty. Also got other letter for other two years for 29.00 They will repair for free include shipping. You know things happen. I will get PS3 soon.
