Repair Xbox 360 - 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run “Initial Setup” under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don’t want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

look guys all 360’s are going to crash sooner or later.
it was just to make money out of you guys. microsoft you get relly blame for this. the system is useless after a while. Too much money for a machine that does not work. It’s just not a good idea to buy one.

I bought my XBOX 360 at the end of December of 2005 and yesterday my XBOX started giving me the 3 red light crap. I called and they gave me the it is 3 months out of warranty and you need to pay $139. After that you can pay $30 per year for the extended warranty. Otherwise, we cannot help you.
I am contemplating, but am looking for something on the internet like a lawsuit ensuing. Let me know if you guys find it post it on this site!!

my xbox broke with dr and i got the same response. this seems like a widespread problem. so widespread that if enough of us get together and give our information to the B B B that microsoft will have no choice but to either fix our systems for free, and or recall the systems.
Lets all get together and start a real petition against this kind of thing.bu we all have to be organized. lets start a website where everyone can go to to voic etheir complaints and where the B B B can read about what Microsoft is doing.
By law, it’s illeagal to do whatMicroshaft is doing. I f this was Ford, there would be a recall. If the 360 is overheating bad enough, it can be deemed as a fire hazard and Microsoft has no way out of that one. Thats just one example.

i have a simple way for all you guys to get your xbox 360 fixed for free.go to target,buy a new one and just switch it with the broken one.trust me the people at target or walmart dont look for serial numbers.

Anthony…your going to have BAD KARMA if you do that..although its tempting I can’t afford to shell out that money again!! I think bill gates should be sued for this one!! I put 800.00 into ours or more and have you noticed the games are REALLY EASY TO BEAT!!! what a JOKE!! Joe

Hmm what would you rather do? Spend 120.00 sending it in or spending $0.00 doing it yourself. Yea. Well i have found two ways to fix the 3 red lights prolbem. This happened to me so i researched and I found a video on Youtube or putfile about a guy who opened his 360 a used a blowdryer on the board and it made it work. So i thought to my self what else would have these affects. Then I figured it out. Turn your 360 put it in a sweater and let it sit for about 3-4 hours. It fixed my 360 and it can fix yours.

Consumer FRAUD!!!!! Microsoft should do a recall, because there is no way that this many systems could be defective. I called and complained, got the old $130 to fix it, after talking to the manager the cost come down to $100 to fix it. I hung up on them.
The microsoft product I will avoid for ever.
Is there any forum or law firm to sue this company, for NOT properly tested products dumping on the consumers and make money.
