Repair Xbox 360 – 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run "Initial Setup" under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don't want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

Jonathon since they send it back to you and they did not repair it even thought you didn’t break it you should send it back with free chocolate inside the box. You know the kind that they love, like the one that Billy Madison leaves on their neighbors porch.
So I don’t think J-ROCK was right because that’s not an easy thing to do, to open your box and void your warranty. You might still have a broken xbox 360.

my xbox 360 showed the three red lights so iam not going to deal with it and iam going to get the Elite.
Its one thing to sell a piece of (*&%! Its another thing not to offer any decent cunstumer service, or any type of recall! Shame on you microsoft, you have shamed yourself again, and Sony more than deserves to win this war!
Thanksgiving weekend I bought my system which is only 5 months ago and its now giving me the 3 red lights. THATS A YEAR AND A HALF ALMOST AFTER THE SYSTEM LAUNCHED!!!! What is this? My original xbox didn’t have this problem and I bought it a year after it launched as well. Guess I’ll try and get it replaced since I’m still under factory warranty.

If your gonna go out and buy a game system just buy a computer and put games on it, you cant go wrong with a computer and as for calling the tech support people for the 3 flashing red lights yea dont waste your time its some computer telling you to do the same thing they tell you on the web site the xbox 360 is crap if you just got one grab that reciept and return it
