Repair Xbox 360 – 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run "Initial Setup" under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don't want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

hi i also got the e red lights of DOOOOM i emailed ms and the sent a UPS guy round a few days later to pick up got it back 6 days later brand new console did not pay for nothing so ms is not as bad in some cases….

had my 360 for 11 months and then all hell broke loose these three red lights are a serious problem that microsoft should have sorted before launch ! now im gonna have to send mine back to get fixed because im not loosing the money from all the games ive bought ! bill gates = corporate scum

My screen freezes so i restart then i got the 3 rings of death. I let it sit a while and it comes on, and then it freezes again then i restart and get 3 rings again. It seem everyone has this prolblem and microsoft should do something. Most people work hard for the money they spent on this piece of crap. i wish i could sock someone in the face for this !@#$% up. I like the others will never purchase another system from microsoft so i got a feeling this will be the last you see from the xbox line.

What up, everybody i heard about the red light problem i also have the 3 red light problem and it is not cool, thats for sure im getting a new 360 core tomarrow but, its been having the 3 red light problem for about 3 weeks now and i did try the towel trick it work for about and hour or 2, And now i try and it don’t even work only fo about 2 minutes at the most i had it since launch title so i guess she had a pretty good run right now im playing on my orginal xbox i mean it aint that bad its just the contollers wierd because i was so use to the 360′s controller but othr that its fine but i rather have 360 by a long shot just in case people want to play with me on Halo 2 my Gamer tag is BTB x GaToR

Anybody see a problem with this:
My 360 that I bought at launch just died. (one year) My PS2 purchased in 2001 died in 2003 (two years). Maybe the number in the system’s name really is how many days (or years in the ps2′s case) that the thing will work.
Follow me on this one… anyone here know somebody who has an original nintendo? Mine still works, same with my sega genesis. And my atari 7800…still ticking.

jez m/s really scewed up this time, i was really excited when they released it and i bought my very own a month or so after launch, and now almost a year later it has the dreaded 3 LED lights. and now i have to send it in, i should have learnt from history and bought a PS3 or sent my money to a charity. this is a frigin joke, shame on you microsoft……….get your act together

how much money do you recko this is costing m/s because of this one fault? A COUPLE BILLION maybe?HOW THE %^&%*$ COULD THEY MAKE UCH A CRUCIAL hARDWARE ERROR, they should bring out a new XBox and call it the ‘xbox problem free edition”. im from australia, so it gets pretty hot but. my XBOX has NEVER been moved and is always been in a WELL VETILATED AREA + i dont treat it badly, im going to save up and buy an PS3. from now on im disowning xbox and am now a PS3 supporter. frigin BILL GATES YOU THEIF
