Repair Xbox 360 – 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run "Initial Setup" under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don't want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

*&^! the Playstation 3. The system’s blu-ray disc dive dos’nt work. Do’s anyone in here know how to *Fix* it or something because for the time being (sony) said it will take a month to send a repair box.(Grrr) I thought that maybe one of you good peeps might of had the same problem because you know how to fix the xbox 360. i got 3 red lights, called c.s. and went through the steps–nothing. they wanted 139.00 dollars to fix it. (*%^|!@. i waited 30 minutes with everthing unplugged and powered it up again. works fine. try that first.
I bought it oh about 3 months after it came out. As soon as i started playing Oblivion it started freezing….I thought well thats lame that the game is *(&^@#; up. I had no idea the next day my entire console would not work. The three red lights didn’t alarm me too much at first until i read all of this stuff online and said @!#$@ I dont have the money to spend to get my Xbox repaired…this is complete *(&+%$^#

I used to work as a xbox 360 tech support agent. I resigned after a week and a half because of all the *#$)^*% ms has regarding the 360. I don’t agree with having to pay for repairs on a console which is defective!
MS is very scared in getting sued and actually all agents are certified in RRT (rapid response team). there are keywords that if a customer indicates will have to be prioritized and transfered to the RRT agent. I dont know what they offer but I would think that they will offer something so that they wont be sued. Agents who miss out on the keyword below may actually get terminated.

No this is a false because I have tried, they told me that if the warrenty is off or you could say outofdate they will need to charge you. Then about you said they are too scared about getting sued that is a load of (crap)********. So stop thinking that you may have been a former there for the tech.support you might know about all the kinks and ways around this *(&%^$. So Iam outta here bye.

Microsoft corperations is no longer going to be septive with the newer defective Xbox 360 entertainment system. Xbox 360 (06) model’s have been rebuilt presicely for the heating matters, and scratching the disc while in reading the graphics on the laser .1product. The (06) Xbox 360 home entertainment system was built with the hitachi disc/dvd/mp3/wma/wam/ect.format simply quit. Water cooling advancments down to the ces.of 73.2 degrees and/or 86.4 degrees. with the optical movment fans which tilt and movment by themselfs for internal cooling performances.
