My dreaded 3 rings of death started yesterday…just 2 weeks before it was 1 year old.
I called 800-4my-xbox and was totally taken care of.
If you bought your 360 on the release date or soon after like I did, MS has extended the warranty to 12 months!!!
As long as the MFG date is 2005.
Act fast and your repair will be free.

In Canada they also offer an extended warranty on the repaired/replaced machine when you get it back for 12 months @ Cdn$26….I never buy extended warranties on electronics but I think I will pay my $26 to MS…I’m guessing I may need it.

The guys who got thier 360 early catch a break on this….sorry to all you guys who got a 2006 machine; The 90 day warranty really sucks and you should persist in making them pay for the repair up to 12 months I think.

Wow, I cant believe how huge this problem is. That is completely Bull Microsoft. Mine was almost exactly a year old before it froze for the first time, and then after that i saw the red lights everytime i turned it on. None of these internet tricks work by the way. All I can say is good thing i bought it in 2005, cuz the repairs are free.

OMG… Microsoft need shootin this disgusts me and i aint even bought a 360 im supprised how frequent this is happening… Is this an purposly done error or is it really a hardware failier… only microsoft knows and they best start producing batches of 360s that go under full tests where the original 360s have gone wrong… this is one big money making corrupt scheme and i hope this doesnt ruin the gaming industry perminant.

hey guys, after reading these posts from the last year, I too was struck with the same problem so I filed a complaint to the bbb against microsoft using a format from another xbox user: here is the complaint: from http://www.xbox360defective.com/index.php

Complaint Description:
Microsoft continues to knowingly manufacture, sell repair and deliver a defective
product, that being the xbox360 gaming console. To further the despicable act, they
charge the consumer $140.00 plus shipping to repair the unit, and then do not even send a
new unit, or the same actual unit one sends in for repairs, but instead, sends out some
body elses defective equipment. Many, many people will attest to the fact that the
xbox360 gaming console is know to be defective. Many websites, with each having
many, many people reporting the thousands of defective xbox 360s.
http://www.xbox360defective.com has many of these listed. Microsoft is totall aware of
this probem. Check the numbers of repairs coming in to their repair center in Mc Allen
Texas. Check with ups, dhl.

Your Desired Resolution:
Microst not only needs go give my family a brand new xbox360 with a 1 year warranty,
but also needs to ensure each and every customer who is suffering from this problem the
same courtesy. Also, Microsoft should admit publically to the real figues on the defective
product, this claiming 3 to 5 percent failure rate is rediculous. A public recal of all xbox
360 units should be anounced, those units should be replace with NEW units bearing a 1
year warranty.

I just bought a brand new 360. The very first time I turned it on I got the 3 red lights. This is absurd. How can they get away with this?

Hey I bought my 360 on 6/6/06…coincidence, maybe! And today I got the 3 lights of death and called customer support, but got the same answer; send it in with $130!! Um, how about not! Why should we pay when we did nothing wrong!? Come on, the better business bureau will stop this if we rise up! Anyways I had a warranty at gamestop…thank the great God!!
