Repair Xbox 360 - 3 Red Lights
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try this simple fix:
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run “Initial Setup” under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
*** UPDATE *** Microsoft has a new free warranty of 3 years for the 3 red light error. If you have this problem, you can send your console in for free repair. Or, if you don’t want to pay shipping and have to wait 2-3 weeks, you can attempt to fix it yourself.

I purchased my xbox 360 in april, 6 months later i got the 3 red lights. I bought insurance for it so I sent it back to repair. Two weeks later after it was repaired, the 3 red lights again. Even with 2 fans running this piece of junk died. I want my $$ back.

I orderd our xbox 360 pro late November 2005,
It was Manufactured January 5, 2006,
Arrived early February 2006 suffered from a defect which caused a hardware failure. This is evident by 3 flashing red lights from the front of the console. This unit was my son Christian’s Big Christmas Gift…. Visit the website to read all and more

A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS REQUIRED. I’ve had my Xb0X 360 since August and just got the dreaded 3 ring problem this week. I’m so pissed off. I will NEVER, EVER buy a Microsoft product again! They screwed us all over with this piece of crap and I’m they did it knowingly. I urge everyone out there to BOYCOTT Microsoft and spread the word that their product SUCKS. Bring on the PS3! Did I mention I HATE Microsoft?

I just got my xbox 360 on sept 30 and on nov.9 got the THREE HATED LIGHTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill buy wii and by the way xbox360 is crap.

Does anyone know if its a fuse that needs to be replaced? I am think about opening it up and replacing the fuse. I have the 3-lights problem too. oh and BTW, im in on the class action suit! This is &^$%$.

Yeah my just crapped out but i was lucky my is under warranty. my was an orginal launch console and sat until april until i could play it and now it was the end of october when it crashed.
I am mad but sony has rubbed me wrong i hope this is the only fix i need or i might just go back to nitendo.

I have an original Xbox console and a 3 MONTH OLD Xbox360. My problem is that they are both not working. I am more concerned with the Xbox360. I bought it new, and when I brought it home I put in on top of my dresser. From then and till now I have never moved the console. I went to go play one day, turned on my console, and there were 3 blinking red lights. I called 1800-4MYXBOX and they want me to pay $130 dollars to fix it. A THREE MONTH WARRANTY? I think you should get a full year warranty because the warranties for computers are a year. I want a longer warranty for my Xbox360. I should not have to pay because my Xbox360 just broke out of nowhere for no reason. All my friends know about my problem with my Xbox360. Six of them were going to buy one. If I do not get a longer warranty then I will tell them not to buy one because they might get ripped off like I did.

ok, i was playing COD when my xbox froze. then 3 red lites!!!. well i was luky!!!. m$ gives anyone whos xbox was made b4 06 free repirs and warranty 4 one year
awesoem rite. so now im just waiting for ups to get my xbox back 2 me
