Best Buy to Have Xbox 360 Console Dec 18

best buy to have consoles dec. 18 US
A (supposedly) leaked insider document from Best Buy shows they are stockpiling 360 consoles to go on sale on December 18th.

A scanned copy of this document is linked below, and it is not verified, but does seem legit.

Here’s the juice:
Hold All Xbox 360s for Dec. 18 Ad
The next Xbox 360 shipment arrives in stores between Dec. 11 and 16. All units need to be held for Sun., Dec. 18.”

Best Buy stores are also told not to take pre-orders, force bundle purchases, create waiting lists or hold the product for customers or employees.

They are also instructed to not hold a midnight or early opening.

There you have it! Those of you who haven’t yet snagged a 360, here’s your chance. Be at Best Buy early for their store opening on Dec. 18.

UPDATE: Well they “said” you can’t line up until 5am but just for the heck of it I went up there just after close around 11:30-12am to see what was happening. I got there and 3 police cars were in the parking lot with about 15 people standing around their cars. (Not at the building) Apparently best buy was shooing people away all night long.

Me along with everyone else out there started a signup sheet for those of us who got there around midnight. Eventually the manager of BB came out and spoke with the police about everything. With the sign-up sheet in hand, BB allowed us to go ahead and line up against the building. The police agreed as well.

People trickled in all night long. By 1:45am the list was full (44 boxes - 2 of which were cores). There were some very angry people showing up throughout the night and even around 4am who thought the line wouldn’t start until 5am. Unfortunate for those people I guess but hey, they should have stuck around I guess.

Of course.. I got mine. One thing though. My hard drive was DOA. I bought the premium bundle and turned the system on only to get an E67 error. I was totally pissed and thought I had a bad console. Turns out it was just the hard drive. I took it to best buy who would NOT give me a new one. They wanted me to return the console. I said screw that and bought a new HDD and just swapped them. I returned the old one today and they never knew the difference. (even though the new one had a slightly different finish to it - less shiny and more gray). Oh well, at least I got a new one…and the system is the shizz.

Hey! Neoh that was pretty slick for what you did with the HDD, Nice!! Im with you though because it sucks to have a new system and then the HDD doesnt work!! That is also a reason i hate BB, they should have exchanged at least the HDD for you with no problem. Job well done their dude;)

Afternoon guys. after all was said and done i was fortunate last night. apparently there were more shipments sunday than previously thought. Gamestop called me to let me know my system was in. they got 10 that shipment. normally anybody else would be satisfied now and not feel the need to write a new thread, but i am compelled. i know how you all who did not get one feel, and i will continue to add whatever help i can to see if we can’t get a few of you a 360 by christmas. :-) considering gamestop got their shipment of ten, i would use deductive logic and say that other stores got new shipments as well. if your reading this, you should be calling all of the stores. call BJ’s, costco, and sams club first as most don’t expect them to carry one. it would appear that Microsoft is pushing to get more systems out by christmas so these next 4 days are critical. if you want one that bad, you will have to be relentless. call a couple times a day starting right now. for those of you who have given up, i completely understand where your coming from. until yesterday i had pretty much given up figuring that i would have one by the end of January, but i got lucky. keep in mind, pretty much all gamestops, EB’s, and other small mall based video game stores will not have ANY until at least the end of January. i wish you all the best of luck, and i will continue to research where new shipments will be arriving.

P.S. the system is definately nice. call of duty 2 is a 8.5 out of 10.

By the way i agree that Best Buy is going about these shipments all wrong. Handing out vouchers at midnight when they know that people will be misled into coming around 5 am is not only wrong but un-ethical. best buy employees getting first digs and buying the system, only to hawk it for more than they paid right out side the store is not only unethical, but is also illegal. i believe they have a name for that, and any employee at any store should be fired for such a thing. my word to you all is that if you see that happening in the days to come, demand to speak with the store manager. tell him that you will go to the police if that is the case. heck you may even get a free system out of the deal. the point is, it’s not fair for someone to have to spend 200 dollars more of their hard earned money because someone who has no interest in the system wants to make a quick buck. also in the nights to come if something like the voucher system happens again, threaten the store about false advetising. not that it is neccesary to actually get a lawyer or anything, but if you sound serious enough, just maybe they will give you a rain check to shut you up. (Hint, Hint) if you ugys do happen to get one, remeber this is a microsoft product, don’t be cheap, get an extended warranty, you know the damn thing is gonna break. :-)

TOP NEWS BB This Sunday Christmas day more shipments!! See the manager at the front door and if he greets you:
“welcome what brings you here to our sanctuary” ANSWER: The war! -Then he will say: “there is no war here, unless if you brought it with you”- Then answer XBOX 360 Please!!! An employee will escort you on a tour to get you to buy everything XBOX 360, then you guys will hit the back room! ;) and check out happy. Remember Christmas day!! MSFT was nice to let some more shipments out of their cage. Oh! and take your time in the backroom and limit of 1 per customer, so enjoy!! No lines too, they will be dismantled by the cops with stun guns and water canons! It sucks because it used to be fun to camp out, relax, take pictures with hobos, have some drinks (sodas) with fellow gamer buddies, sing some songs, run arround at night smashing windows and running back to the line. I know it hurts but no lines please, or BB employees will bring out the .30 cal and flamethrower. CHAOs!! Also the core system will be non existent so bring a lot of casH$$$ and prepare for BB employees to try to make you buy a HDTV, Surround sound, games, accessories, tell them you only have 399.00 and 33.00 for uncle sam.

LOL

I went to Best Buy in New Hartford, NY and they had 28 units available, unfortunately my 9 year old and I were number 30 in line…..But just wanted to let you all know that the manager and his crew were excellent with all the people standing in line and they did not hand out the tickets to people in line until 7:45 in the morning, but he told us repeatedly that he only had 28 units to sell and if we weren’t one of the first 28 then we were welcome to stay or we could go home…. He was real fair and honest with everyone and handled the whole situation great!
