Difference Between Xbox 360 Core and Xbox 360 “Preimum”

The Xbox 360 is available in two flavors, regular and lite. The Maniac sez, get a “Premium” 360 with all the goodies. You’ll be glad you did.

The Xbox 360 “Premium”
Xbox 360 Premium
The main Xbox kit, is really just “Xbox 360.” It has gained the “premium” name by the public, in order to easily tell the difference.

It also comes in a white box, easy to spot for all 360 maniacs. This is the one you want to see Santa bringing down the chimney.

The Xbox 360 sells for $399.00 and includes the following:

Console
Detachable hard drive (20 GB)
2.4 GHz Wireless Controller
Xbox-Live Headset
Component HD-AV cable
Xbox Live Silver membership
One month limited trial membership for Xbox Live Gold
Ethernet cable
Media Remote

The Xbox 360 Core System
Xbox 360 Core System

The core system is just what the name says, the basic core console. This unit comes in the green box.

The Core System sells for $299 and includes:
Console
Wired Controller with 9ft break-away cable
Standard AV cable
Xbox Live Silver membership
One month limited trial membership for Xbox Live Gold

That’s it!

So, if you get the green box (core system), you get no wireless on the controller, no hard drive, no xbox live headset, no ethernet cable and no media remote.

The biggest difference here, is the hard drive. Why? Cuz you need it or a memory unit to save games. The main reason though, is you need it to play your old original xbox games in their new widescreen High Definition glory.

Not worried about old games? Couldn’t care less about wireless controllers? Don’t have an hdtv? Not worried about save games? (huh?) You won’t be playing xbox live? The core system might be for you, but if you answered no to all of these questions, why have a 360 in the first place?

The harddrive alone sells for $100. Why not pony it up to start with, and get the rest for no additional bucks?

Go for the white box, you’ll be better off.

Most games will not be limited, but some may require the HD, such as Final Fantasy.

You need the HD to play backwards compatible original xbox titles.

And the HD will speed up load times with caching for many games.

HI xbox 360 maniac.im from india.xbox 360 is gonna launch in india soon.
the core sys costs RS 19,990 & Premium costs Rs 23,990.is it fair cost?

Actually that seems pretty steep. Doing a currency conversion, here are your prices in USD:

Core System:
19,990.00 INR India Rupees = 432.343 USD

Premium System:
23,990.00 INR India Rupees = 518.882 USD

That’s well over a hundred bucks more for each system. Still, the best buy is the premium.

thanx xbox 360 maniac.i’ll now go for the premium xbox 360 only.

I also got the reason why microsoft is offering 10% discount on xbox 360 core system(on advance booking) & not xbox 360 premium.

hi,
The xbox 360 premium in Pune’s(India’s) Planet M costs around Rs.27,590!i met 1 dude who advised me not to buy xbox in such a hurry & told me that the prices will be lowered preety soon.is it true?
Also a guy at a small pc games shop told me that he will sell me the premium one for Rs.23,990 along with the bill.So shuld i buy from him rather than planet m?I mean if i get the bill than it is safe to buy.right?

hello everyone,
i bought a new xbox 360 recently & played the game dead or alive 4 on it.the game started perfectly but the problem is that i dont know how to exit the game!actually when u put the cd the game starts & “PRESS START” screen appears.after pressing START button v get the options like CARRER MODE,VERSUS MODE,TRAINING,SETTINGS etc etc but there is no EXIT OPTION,only a BACK button.after pressing BACK i returned to the “PRESS START” screen.over there, there is no EXIT or BACK option!i tried out all the keys on the controller but the game didnt close!so i switched off the console & then removed the cd.So guys can u tell me how to return to the dashboard from the game?I WOULD BE REALLY EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO THE ONE U TELLS ME>>>

yer but no but yer.

Rite first of all an xbox 360 premium costs 280(pounds). I am ordering an xbox 360 core console 160(pounds) and then i am ordering the 20GB HDD 55(pounds) then ordering wireless controller 20(pounds) then i can get a headset 10(pounds) and media remote 15(pounds) and i can pick up any game for 21(pounds) so lets add up ….

160 +
55 +
20 +
10 +
15 +
21 = 281 (pounds)

so wat wud u rather have ..

Xbox 360 premium with headset, wireless controller, 20GB HDD, HD av cable and media romote.

or…

xbox core with 20GB HDD, wireless controller, 20GB HDD, and media romote, with extra wire controller, and just cause (xbox 360 game)

hmmm for 1 pound more i would prefer the core.

I think i outsmarted you microsoft. With what i sed you will get a wireless controller and 1 game more! :) im happy

:P
